In our GA house we have what is known as the Blue Bathroom and the Pink Bathroom. Frankie has associated the Pink Bathroom to a truck stop. He wasn’t wrong. It was one of the situations of no matter what I did, it didn’t feel or looked clean. The bathroom is surrounded with pink 4×4 tile and bordered with a brown tile. The same went with the floor tile, 1×1 square tile.

First major problem was that the window was taken out and it was boarded with plywood. With no daylight, the bulb light gave off a yellowish tint. So the pink tile was salmon-y. The walls were covered in a pink floral wallpaper. It was all over yuk! I couldn’t stand it a second longer. First to go was the wall paper. I’m a great stripper so this was fun. Next, clean the walls and prime paint. Including the pink ceiling. Then paint white. HHHMMMM still far from happy. The floors must be the reason.

I saw a cool vinyl tile herring bone application on IG and knew that was it. I bought the marble look 12×12 tile. I cut to 4 inch strip. It was December and cold, keep in mind that this bathroom as window less and only covered by a sheet of wood. This bathroom was freeeeeeezing but since I drove 6 hours to do this project, I was going to plan. This was NOT a good idea, I cut & I applied to the floor tiles – but the floor was too cold for the glue to adhere. I left GA the next morning irritated and stressed because I had used an additional glue. I had read that 2 glues that don’t work with each other will cancel out the ability to cure. FUXK. Before I left I covered the eyesore with a rug and a plank of wood.

The next trip was to grout the floor. Some of the floor tiles adhered, some were a little loose. I came all this way. I’m grouting. It was bad. I called defeat.

The rug and plank were placed back with an extra rug for covering the mess I made. Many months later we decided to replace with new windows to half the house, including the Pink Bathroom. HOLY SHIT we had natural light in this room. This only highlighted that my white painting was not great and the floor was subpar. On a positive note (if we can call it that), it was a step up from a truck stop, but barely. I could not bring myself to use that bathroom – for months. Then add months to that, it’s been about 8 months since I could face this disaster.

With new light, I decided to finish the flooring. Somewhere in the last 8 months the tiles decided to adhere and the tiles were in place. I dunno what to tell you there. I cleaned and I cleaned. I used a grout scraper tool. I vacuumed a thousand times. I re grouted using my vinyl grout. It was quickly looking awesome. I cleaned up and went to my favorite Mexican place in Waycross, I had the usual, Texan Margarita and Diablo Taco. I came home in the mood to paint, so I did. I have painted the whole house Snowbound from Sherwin Williams, though this time I went with Satin as I normally go with Eggshell.

I took out the medicine cabinet. It was old and disgusting- the base had little gaps and found a handful of crusty blades. Once taken out the wood planks had gaps that it showed the garage. I bought a foam insulation and cut it to size and stuffed the cavity and placed a mirror to replace the medicine cabinet and to cover the hole.

After months of ignoring the eyesore, this was a quick fix and I don’t know why it took me this long. You guys, the bathroom actually looks good to me. Keep in mind in the next year or so was a demolishing the Pink and the Blue bathroom so a little revamping is all I’m doing. To me, it’s looking fabulous – ish. Lol, never happy.
